A 26-year-old commercial sex worker was yesterday sentenced to perform 315 hours of community service after she was convicted of biting off a fellow commercial sex worker’s lower lip during a fight over a man.
Pamela Moyo (22), was convicted on her own plea by Gweru magistrate Ms Sithembiso Ncube.
She was sentenced to six months in prison of which three months were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The other three were suspended on condition that she performs 315 hours of community service at Takwirira Primary School in Mkoba Village 17 in Gweru.
For the State, Miss Helen Khosa told the court that on Saturday last week, at Mkoba Village 14 Shopping Centre, Moyo, who is a commercial sex worker, was drinking beer with her “catch” inside a bar when the complainant, Ms Tackler Dhege (26) entered.
Ms Dhege then started speaking to Moyo’s boyfriend.
The court heard that Moyo confronted Ms Dhege, accusing her of trying to snatch away her boyfriend.
The court heard that Ms Dhege got out of the bar but Moyo followed her. She started punching Ms Dhege. A fight between the two then broke out resulting in Moyo biting off Ms Dhege’s lower lip. Ms Dhege sustained a deep cut as a result.
The matter was reported to the police leading to Moyo’s arrest.
