The ZANU-PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Coordinating Committee will meet today to finalise the criteria to be used on selecting prospective candidates for the Mbire constituency.
The seat fell vacant after former legislator Mr David Butau was recalled from parliament.
This followed his expulsion from the ruling party.
In Masvingo, the party’s Provincial Elections Directorate has already started receiving curriculum vitae from prospective candidates for Mwenezi East and will finalise the list of people that will contest in the primary elections next Friday.
The seat also fell vacant following the recall of Mr Kudakwashe Bhasikiti after he was expelled from zanu-PF.
zanu-PF Mashonaland Central acting provincial chairman Cde Dickson Mafios, confirmed the meeting yesterday.
“The PCC will be meeting tomorrow (today) to set the rules and regulations that will guide the primary elections including the qualifications that are required. We will then on Wednesday next week go to Mbire to receive the CVs of prospective candidates.
“The Provincial Elections Directorate will then meet on Friday to select the qualifying candidates and also set the dates for the primary elections,” said Cde Mafios .
Masvingo province acting chairman Cde Paradzai Chakona, said they had already started receiving CVs.
“We have already started receiving CVs for Mwenezi East after the guidelines were approved when we had our inter-district meeting early this week.
“The Provincial Elections Directorate will meet on Friday to select the candidates and also set the dates for the primary elections,” Cde Chakona said.
Messrs Butau and Bhasikiti were expelled from zanu-PF together with Messrs Dzikamai Mavhaire, Claudious Makova, Ray Kaukonde, Kudakwashe Gope and Dr Olivia Muchena.
The seven were part of the Dr Joice Mujuru led cabal accused of engaging in clandestine activities to remove President Mugabe from power.
Dr Mujuru and Messrs Didymus Mutasa and Rugare Gumbo were also expelled from the party.
The ruling party has also suspended 141 officials for periods ranging from two years to five years for the roles they played in the plot.
