ZIFA Mashonaland Central Province chairman, Edward Mutukwa, believes responsibility to grow football must start at provincial level.
His comments come at a time when they already have a fundraising dinner lined-up for March 06 to support football development in the province.
The ZIFA Mashonaland Central Province oversees the sport in ten local authorities, including Bindura, Shamva, Mazowe, Guruve, Mt Darwin and others.
“As a province, we are looking for new ways to fund our activities. We want to make sure that sports in Mashonaland Central help support the national goal of achieving an upper-middle-income economy by 2030,” said Colonel Mutukwa.
The Guest of Honour at the dinner will be the Resident Minister of Mashonaland Central, Cde Christopher Magomo.
“So the event will also be a great chance for businesses within our province to meet and network with other companies as we are expecting stakeholders across the country.
“We are inviting individuals and companies to buy tables for ten. The prices for the tables will vary, with the Platinum table costing US $2 000 and three other categories are also available.”
The initiative come at a time when many teams in the provinces struggle financially playing in the lower divisions unless they are backed by corporates.
Talented players from the different provinces also have to travel far to get a chance to play in the Premiership.
Mutukwa said they need business support to achieve their goals and individuals can also make any donation if they wish to.
He added that 60 percent of the funds will go to the ZIFA Division 2A and 2B leagues while the remaining 40 percent will be used for the junior leagues both boys and girls.
