PSL action resumes

IT’S another Bulawayo derby as action resumes in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League after the international break, Tsholotsho FC taking on How Mine at White City Stadium tomorrow.

This is the only PSL match for the City of Kings, as Bulawayo City are away to Mutare City Rovers, while Highlanders and Chicken Inn’s respective games have been cancelled as Bosso and the Gamecocks have more than three players on national duty.

The Tsholotsho-How Mine encounter will no doubt attract an appreciative crowd, with the city’s football enthusiasts almost guaranteed of an entertaining game as both sides play a good passing game.

Tsholotsho are 13th on the league table with seven points from eight outings and will be hoping to recover from a disappointing 0-1 defeat to table anchors Border Strikers.

It was Strikers’ first win of the season and Tsholotsho were upset with that defeat.

MacClive Phiri, Tsholotsho’s right-back, who has been having a terrific season for the Zhwane outfit despite positive results eluding them, said they are ready for How Mine.

“The coach spoke strongly about our lapse in concentration against Border Strikers and we’ve been trying to correct the mistakes we make.

“That defeat is water under the bridge and we need to focus on getting our act together and post positive results. Playing How Mine won’t be an easy game, but we’re ready to fight,” said Phiri.

He will marshal the defence with national team trialist and captain William Stima, Thando Ncube and Nkosi Moyo.

Tsholotsho should be on the lookout for How Mine’s attacking duo of Charles Sibanda and Kuda Musharu.

The miners, who held FC Platinum to a goalless draw before the international break, also have playmaker Pasca Manhanga, winger Tsepo Ranthokoane, defensive midfielder Sakala Makundike, wingbacks Qadr Amin and Tapuwa Kumbuyani to bank on for a victory.
