DYNAMOS strikers Roderick Mutuma and Takesure Chinyama have been summoned to appear before the Premier Soccer League’s Disciplinary Committee next Tuesday following their misconduct after the Chibuku Super Cup final against Harare City two weeks ago where they charged at the referee.
The two forwards, disappointed by their side’s 2-1 defeat to Harare City who lifted the Cup, took their frustrations of failing to score out on the centre referee Pilani Ncube.
But the ill-advised move has got the duo into trouble as they have been summoned to appear before the PSL Disciplinary Committee and may be fined after the deliberations.
Yesterday, PSL chief executive Kenny Ndebele said after receiving the reports from referee Ncube as well as the match commissioner of the day, Brighton Mudzamiri, the players have been summoned for a disciplinary hearing next week.
“In terms of the Rules and Regulations of the Castle Lager Premiership Soccer League, you are alleged to have committed the act(s) of misconduct/offences (s).
“In terms of Order 31 of Premier Soccer League Rules and Regulations, it is an act of misconduct on the part of the player who:
“31.2.1 directly or indirectly interrupts, obstructs, or disturbs the normal proceedings of a game, before during or after the match.
“31.2.9 Assaults, threatens intimidates, coerces, interferes, misleads or insults a match official, player, official of the league, public press or media, or any other person before, during or after the match.
“31.2.17 behaves in a manner which brings the league or any of its sponsors into disrepute or endangers the welfare of the league.
“In terms of order 32.3.2 of the new Rules and Regulations of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League, you are hereby required to submit in writing within two days of the date of this notification, your response or answer to the allegations foresaid failing which you may be called for another disciplinary hearing in respect of such failure,” read the summons.
After the Chibuku Super Cup final, the Dynamos players led by Mutuma and Chinyama charged at referee Ncube, harassing him before his assistants and the chief security officers from Dynamos and Harare City moved in to protect the Bulawayo-based match official.
And in his report to the PSL after the match, Ncube said that after the match Dynamos players led by Mutuma and Chinyama charged at the match officials.
In the process Mutuma used abusive language directed at the match officials and also shouted unprintable words in the process.
Mutuma is also alleged to have made reference to the reasons why Zimbabwean referees were sent home from cosafa tournament in South Africa.
A week ago Dynamos were also fined $2 000 by the PSL after their fans invaded the pitch after their away game against Tsholotsho in Bulawayo and tore the goal nets belonging to the home team.
The club has also been ordered to replace the nets.
But these summons to Mutuma and Chinyama apply to the players in their individual capacity, and while the players are not entitled to legal representation at the hearing, they are, however, allowed to bring their club’s vice-chairman who may attend the hearing and assist them in the proceedings.
