POLICE in Bulawayo have launched a manhunt for a 747 Sports Bar employee who allegedly broke into the company’s premises and stole $5,000. Spencer Magoge from Kingsdale suburb in Bulawayo allegedly broke into the bar through the roof last week on Tuesday. Police have launched a manhunt for Magoge, a general hand at the leisure facility.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango said Magoge became the prime suspect after he failed to report for duty.
“He disappeared and didn’t report for duty the following day. He hasn’t been seen ever since. He allegedly used the roof to gain access into the shop. He removed a roof sheet. He’s suspected to have stolen $5,000 from the company safe,” said Insp Simango.
She said it was disappointing that businesses and individuals continued to keep large sums of money in their homes or business premises, thereby attracting thieves.
“We’ve been constantly urging members of the public not to keep large sums of money in their homes. But it seems our call is falling on deaf ears.
“People should learn to deposit their money in banks, to avoid such losses,” said Insp Simango.
She urged members of the public who might have knowledge on the whereabouts of Magoge to come forward.
