Pugilists trade blows at BBA monthly tournament

THE Bulawayo Boxing Association’s monthly tournament that was held at Mathonisa Beer garden on Saturday saw 32 pugilists taking to the ring to trade leather in six weight categories.

First to take to the ring was Wesley Sithole from Nketa who beat Founder’s Anesu Runyowa on points in the lightflyweight division while Nkosinqobile Mahlangu of Sikhulile knocked out Thandazani Ndlovu in the same weight division. Ndlovu is from Founders.

Thabo Mpofu from Founders beat fellow teammate Panashe Muchato in the flyweight division while Bulawayo West’s Fortune Msindo was knocked out by Bongani Ndlovu in the light welterweight division.

Zimbabwe National Army’s Ndanetsei Nyamukondiwa, fighting in the catchweight division, knocked out Tshaka’s Lwazi Mpofu but his teammate Simbarashe Mutemeri was not so lucky as he lost to Lobengula’s Wiseman Tshuma.

Nkosinathi Ncube from Sikhulile was the winner in the light heavyweight division against Bulawayo West’s Tyson Msebele.
