Puma Energy opens aviation depot

Puma’s aviation fuel depot was opened at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport yesterday by Energy and Power Development Minister Edgar Moyo, a US$3 million investment to add to the facilities that meet demand for refined products, driven by greater market needs for higher grade fuels.

Present at the event was Transport and Infrastructure Development Deputy Minister Joshua Sacco, Energy and Power Development Deputy Minister Yeukai Simbanegavi, Puma Energy Africa CEO Mr Fadi Mitri and Puma Energy Zimbabwe general manager Mr Donatien Kadog, among others.

Minister Moyo said the investment was a testament to Puma’s commitment to advance the country’s energy goals.

“The establishment of this storage facility not only signifies a strategic move towards reducing supply chain disruptions, but also reinforces their preparedness to meet the growing demands of various economic sectors, serviced through the aviation industry,” he said.

“This substantial investment complements our efforts towards strengthening fuel security and enhancing the resilience of our energy infrastructure. The National Development Strategy 1, guided by Vision 2030, seeks to create an enabling environment for economic growth, and infrastructure development is a key national priority.”

Deputy Minister Sacco commended Puma Energy Zimbabwe for leading by example and investing in de-carbonisation that is paramount for the successful realisation of Vision 2030.

“Your involvement in solarisation which is contributing to de-carbonisation is greatly commendable. It stands as a shining example of good corporate citizenship and responsibility, and reflects the genuine commitment that Puma Energy Zimbabwe has for the growth of our economy.”
