REGGAE and dancehall music has over the years been less appreciated in Bulawayo, perhaps so because of the city’s appreciation of South African music, which has more appeal to it.
With several reggae and dancehall artistes emerging from the City of Kings, one reggae and dancehall music producer has launched a riddim, which he believes will get the genres appreciated in Bulawayo, let alone the country.
Tynash Chipembere, recently launched the riddim — Pure Heart Riddim (PHR), which seeks to promote the genre in Bulawayo.
Chipembere said it was heart-breaking that reggae was given less attention in Bulawayo so much that some reggae artistes failed to pursue their love for the genre due to lack of support.
“I have discovered that there are artistes who are very much talented to take Jah music to the next level, but they are failing to do so because of financial problems as well as lack of support from people,” he said.
“PHR seeks to draw attention from young artistes to start recording and falling in love with the scintillating rockers vibes,” he added.
The PHR riddim will feature all reggae artistes from Bulawayo in a move set to promote the genre.
Reggae and dancehall artistes like Jaydon, Sox Nutty O, Puzzle P, Chipman and Seeh Calaz are among artistes who are already working with producer Chipembere.
Chipembere said it was a shame that Busy Signal failed to rock the stage at the City Hall Car Park, citing that his performance could have drawn people closer to reggae music.
“Busy Signal performance could have stimulated the love of reggae music among Bulawayo people and could have stimulated interest from talented artistes to start recording reggae music,” said Chipembere.
Talented artistes who are interested in recording reggae music using the Pure Heart Riddim can follow Chipembere on his Facebook and Instagram accounts as Tynash Chipembere and @TynashChipembere.
Reggae and dancehall music has over the past years seen many international artistes using certain riddims that have seen them growing popular as artistes. @peterkmatika
