Pusheka Girl and its partners continue their mission to empower girls through sanitary wear donations to schools. Since its inception in 2020, Pusheka Girl, a supportive community of female business owners, has reached various communities such as Gwanda, Tshabalala, Plumtree, Makokoba, Sizinda, SOS Village, and Isaiah Umuzi Wethu.
Last year, the organisation intensified its efforts, visiting Hamilton High School, Masuku Primary School, and Mahlabezulu Primary School to distribute supplies. Starting this year with a celebration of kindness for Valentine’s Day, the team visited Entumbane High School.
Musicians Mzoe7 and Msiz’Kay joined the Entumbane initiative, pushing the cause forward. Mzoe7 expressed his gratitude for the experience and highlighted the importance of giving back to the community.
During an interview, Pusheka Girl board member Maxy Tekere shared that they have expanded their initiative by establishing a Pad Bank.

“A Pad Bank is a community-driven initiative designed to ensure that no girl or woman is without sanitary pads due to financial constraints. Much like a food bank provides meals, a Pad Bank collects and distributes menstrual products to individuals, schools, shelters, and communities that lack access to these essential items.
“At Pusheka Girl, menstruation should never be a barrier to education, work, or personal dignity. Through our Pad Bank, we aim to create a reliable, sustainable source of sanitary pads for girls and women across Zimbabwe. We welcome donations, whether from individuals, businesses, or organisations, to stock the bank and ensure those in need have access to pads whenever necessary.
“By supporting the Pusheka Girl Pad Bank, you’re not just giving a pad – you’re giving confidence, dignity, and an uninterrupted path to success,” she said.
Beyond sanitary wear, Pusheka Girl also focuses on supporting young women in business.
“We’re committed to promoting young female entrepreneurs, showcasing their brands on social media, and encouraging cross-promotion within our community,” Maxy added.
To further this cause, Pusheka Girl hosts quarterly business shower events, offering a platform for women entrepreneurs to present their ventures and connect with peers across various industries. The organisation also leverages its social media platforms to advocate for women’s rights and promote businesses led by women in Bulawayo.
