TRADITIONAL healers are no longer the elusive figures they once were. Many are now modern young women with day jobs who practice their craft with a passion for healing people.

Despite contributing to shaping our society into a better one, traditional healers often don’t always receive a warm thank you for their help.

However, this is not the case with a Harare-based traditional healer, Gogo Chihoro, who claims to use supernatural powers as a form of justice to track down thieves and “apprehend” them.

People are reportedly flocking to the “Queen of Justice” after she rose to fame when she recently delivered what some call “paranormal justice” on behalf of a gold miner from Mberengwa, Midlands Province.

The miner had allegedly lost US$30 000 to armed robbers, and Gogo Chihoro unleashed a swarm of bees to attack them, forcing them to return the stolen money.

Buzzing mightily, the swarm reportedly tracked down the suspects and “apprehended” them before stinging them into submission.

Defeated and in pain, they marched, surrendered themselves to the victim, and returned the money.

As if that wasn’t enough, she also reportedly unleashed a baboon-like creature on a businessman in Chitungwiza who had defaulted or neglected to pay for the services of a man he had hired to renovate his house.

Gogo Chihoro also gained popularity by assisting gold miners who consulted her before starting their operations to obtain the so-called “spiritual password” for discovering or locating the precious mineral.

In an interview with B-Metro, Gogo Chihoro said many people were consulting her to recover stolen goods and money.

“A lot of people are now seeking my services to locate thieves. Even some of the police officers are coming here to take charms to locate criminals of the cases they are investigating.

“In addition to seeking assistance after misfortunes, some gold miners consulted me before starting their operations. They sought guidance to aid in their search for gold,” she said.

She expressed confidence in her ability to help people in various ways saying distance was not a barrier as people can simply reach out to her remotely, and she will offer immediate assistance.

“Distance couldn’t stop a helping hand. One can just call me wherever you are, and I will be happy to help right away,” said Gogo Chihoro.

She defended her unconventional route to justice saying traditional healers were helping to shape the society into a better one.

“People often misunderstand Sangomas. Despite being helped when they consult us, there’s a misconception.

“My mission is to contribute to shaping a better society by ending crime. Unlike other Sangomas who provide goblins, muthi, and other divination tools, I use my abilities to track down thieves and apprehend them. Those I apprehend will never steal again,” she said.
