EMMA RADUCANU is out of the US Open with injury – and could miss the rest of the season.
Less than four weeks before the final major on the tennis calendar, the Brit has withdrawn from the tournament in New York.
Five years on from that epic victory at Flushing Meadows, one of the biggest stories in British sport, the 23-year-old is not fit enough to play in the main draw.
Raducanu pulled out of Wimbledon the night before it began due to a stress fracture in her foot.
She has a long-standing issue with her right ankle and lower shin and has been seen wearing a protective moon boot in recent weeks.
Her team say that after latest consultations with her medical team she has been advised to skip the event in the Big Apple.
Though she has been working hard to rehab the stress fracture, she needs more time for it to heal, which is typical given the nature of this particular injury.

Over the past week, she has been resting up at the five-star Suvretta House retreat near St Moritz in Switzerland.
Not only has she been able to sail on a nearby lake and eat top-class food, she has been serving at a gentle pace on a clay court.
Since Wimbledon finished, she has dropped down to 49 on the live WTA rankings and there is no confirmed return date.
The Kent star is not part of Britain’s Billie Jean King Cup team that will play the Czech Republic in the quarter-finals of the women’s World Cup next month in China.
In May, Raducanu reunited with Spanish-based Andrew Richardson – the man who helped her win the US Open in 2021.
Yet they have only had seven matches across three tournaments together.
Playing three matches across two days at the WTA Queen’s – the quarters, semis and final – is essentially what caused the flare-up in the first instance.
There are concerns that she might not be able to play again in the autumn or winter and may prioritise a return in 2027.
Not being seen on a competitive tennis court is a major blow to her sponsors Uniqlo and Evian – Sun.
