Chicken 2-1 Dynamos

CHICKEN Inn hold a 2-1 lead over Dynamos in a lively Castle Lager Premier Soccer League encounter at Barbourfields Stadium, with Rahim Katinji’s brace giving the Gamecocks the upper hand in an entertaining first half.

The hosts made a dream start in the 11th minute when Katinji reacted quickest inside a crowded box to slot home from close range after a goalmouth scramble, handing Chicken Inn an early advantage.

Dynamos responded positively and nearly found an equaliser in the 19th minute when Shadreck Nyahwa connected with Abel Gwatidzo’s cross, but his audacious bicycle kick drifted wide.

The visitors continued to push forward and squandered another golden chance five minutes later as Perfect Chikwende fired over the bar after being picked out by Tellmore Pio.

Dynamos’ persistence finally paid off in the 34th minute when Moses Demera pounced from close range after Chicken Inn failed to deal with Christopher Netty’s long throw, bringing DeMbare back on level terms.

But parity lasted only five minutes. In the 39th minute, Temptation Chiwunga delivered a teasing free-kick and Katinji rose above the Dynamos defence to head home his second goal of the afternoon, restoring Chicken Inn’s lead.
