Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG) has completed a US$500 000 refurbishment of the New Ambassador Hotel in Harare, unveiling a modern, comfort-driven upgrade designed to revitalise the city’s hospitality offering and strengthen the group’s broader urban renewal strategy.

The extensive transformation blends the hotel’s classic appeal with contemporary aesthetics to create a functional, inviting space for both business and leisure travellers.

The revamped hotel now offers an ambience of comfort, with modern interiors, refreshed service standards and panoramic views of the capital’s skyline.

RTG chief executive officer, Mr Tendai Madziwanyika, said the refurbishment was part of the group’s long-term strategy to modernise its assets and contribute to the rejuvenation of Harare’s central business district.

“As RTG, we view infrastructure investment as a strategic lever for growth, differentiation, and long-term value creation,” he said.

“The refurbishment of the New Ambassador Hotel is part of a deliberate plan to modernise our assets, uplift our city-centre offering, and contribute to urban renewal in Harare’s CBD.

“We are not just upgrading hotels; we are elevating the guest journey, improving accessibility, embedding sustainability, and supporting Zimbabwe’s tourism and economic development agenda.”

The upgrade included a complete overhaul of all 72 guest rooms and bathrooms to enhance comfort, functionality and modern design.

Rooms were reconfigured to maximise space and now feature contemporary furnishings, neutral colour schemes and subtle textured finishes.

Bathrooms were fully redesigned, with new walk-in showers, practical vanities and low-flow toilets to reduce water consumption.

Walls and floors were completely retiled to match international mid-scale hotel standards.

In line with RTG’s sustainability commitments, the hotel now incorporates eco-efficient features such as LED energy-saving lighting and water-conservation systems.

The refurbishment forms part of RTG’s wider US$26 million capital investment programme implemented over the past five years.

This year, the group has also injected US$5,2 million into the refurbishment of the Rainbow Towers Hotel and the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC), along with US$380 000 channelled towards upgrading the A’Zambezi River Lodge and the Victoria Falls Rainbow Hotel.

With the festive season approaching, RTG has launched its “Fun Under the Rainbow” holiday promotion, offering special packages across its facilities from December 1, 2025, to January 15, 2026.
