Rains to continue — Met Dept

The rains that started yesterday are expected to continue until the end of the week, the Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has said. MSD said mild temperatures were expected during the period. The department said light rain showers were expected across the whole country. “Expect light rain showers across the whole country for the week starting 4 to 10 April 2016,” MSD said.

Recently, the MSD predicted heavy rains which played a significant role in reassuring farmers of the survival of the remaining livestock and late planted crops

This came at a time when thousands of cattle had succumbed to the dire effects of the El Nino-induced drought. Recent reports indicate that about 24 801 cattle have been lost countrywide since the adverse weather pattens with Masvingo province being the hardest hit
