Ramsey K to embark on regional tour

Ramsey K, Bulawayo-based jazz musician says he will embark on a regional tour before the end of the year and during the tour he will perform with other artistes.

He said he will perform in Zambia, Botswana and Swaziland at venues and dates yet to be finalised.

In an interview, the Umakhelwane singer said he will start with regional tours before he travels abroad where he will participate in exchange programmes.

“We’re planning to tour internationally next year after we’re done with the regional tours. People will see us going to places like Oslo, Norway where I’ll be attending workshops.

“In the United Kingdom, I’ll be joined by Mambokadzi where we’ll try to work on combining Afro-Jazz with dance”, said Ramsey K.

He said Scotland will be his last destination where he will attend workshops under a cultural exchange programme.

The vibrant artiste said the international tours are meant to fuse Caribbean music with Southern African traditional music, marimba, mbira and hosho.

The artiste said he is excited about the upcoming tours.

Turning to his music, he said: “I’m almost done with an EP that I’m working on. It’ll be released soon as I’m only left with mixing and mastering it.

It’s going to be titled I Miss Home.”

The jazz singer has been a lead and backing vocalist for South Africa’s Afro-pop group Platform One, Botswana trumpeter Ndingo Johwa, Zimbabwe’s Tanga wekwaSando, Busi Ncube, Band Fusion and Khuliyo.

Ramsey K has travelled the world and worked with many artistes in the process.

Some of the countries where he has performed at different festivals include Norway, The UK, Spain, Sweden, Ghana, Zambia and Botswana.

He once spent a year in Oslo, Norway attending Norway Gorgon Theatre school.
