HARARE CITY coach Try Ncube expects Rangers’ fight against relegation to test his side’s championship ambitions when the teams meet at Callies Stadium today.
City are second on 45 points, four behind Northern Region Soccer League leaders Black Rhinos, who travel to Shamva.
Rangers are third from bottom with 25 points from 25 matches, and Ncube expects them to fight for every point at Callies.
“There are no easy games. The opponent is fighting for their lives and will obviously give their all,” Ncube said.
“We desperately want to win this game so that we maintain the momentum.”
City beat Batanai 2-0 in their previous outing at Callies, and Ncube hopes home support can again make a difference.
“I remain hopeful of getting a positive result, especially when we are playing in front of our fans,” he said.
Black Rhinos have lost only twice this season and will be aiming to protect top spot against a Shamva side coming off a 1-0 victory over Karoi at the weekend.
Elsewhere today, Highrange take on Golden Eagles at Gwanzura, while Cranborne Bullets host PAM at Commando Barracks.
Chegutu Pirates and G&T meet in a derby at Pfupajena, with Black Mambas travelling to Banket United.
Jumbo Giants host Batanai in a Mashonaland Central derby, while Karoi United face Zambezi Gas and Coal at Centenary Sports Club.
Bottom side Marere play Ngezi U19, with Chingwere away to FC Oden at Chinhoyi Stadium.
