A 72-YEAR-OLD man has denied raping a 13-year-old girl who is a Grade Six pupil at Nyamande Primary School, saying he cannot achieve an erection.
Baiton Tula Dube, from Lobengula suburb in Bulawayo, told the Western Commonage magistrates’ court that he was as good as a woman. “Your worship, I am as good as a woman. I don’t even think about making love to a woman because my manhood is not functional,” he said.
Dube who was not asked to plead when he appeared before Mr Lungile Ncube, said he could not have sexual intercourse due to an infection that has made him impotent.
He was remanded in custody to today for bail application.
Prosecuting, Ms Margret Takawira said Dube allegedly raped the girl in June when she was passing through a bushy area from school.
“The girl was on her way home when she met two unknown man wearing hooded jackets, covering their faces,” said Ms Takawira.
She said the two men held the complainant’s mouth and dragged her to the accused, who was seated in a trench.
The accused dragged the complainant into the trench and raped her once, the court heard.
Ms Takawira said Dube threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone about the incident. — @NyarieBakie
