Rapper Emtee granted bail

Rapper Emtee’s management has confirmed that the rapper has been released on bail following his recent court appearance.

In a statement issued to us by Hlubi Radebe from the rapper’s management team after media reports surrounding the matter, management said they would not be commenting on the allegations while legal processes continue.

“After recent media reports surrounding the legal matter involving the South African rapper, Emtee.

“We wish to confirm that Emtee has been released on bail. We believe it is important to allow due process to take its course and will refrain from commenting on the allegations themselves.

“During this time, Emtee stays committed to his personal growth, his supporters and his career. We appreciate the continued support and understanding shown by his fans, industry colleagues and the public.”

The award-winning rapper, whose real name is Mthembeni Ndevu, was granted R1000 bail after appearing in the Midrand Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, June 11.

According to “TimesLIVE”, Emtee spent the night at Midrand Police Station on Wednesday after allegedly violating a protection order filed by his estranged wife, Nicole Chinsamy, in 2023.

It is alleged that the rapper visited Chinsamy’s home in Midrand and grabbed a knife in the kitchen while she was bathing his daughter last week.

The alleged incident comes after Emtee accused Chinsamy of assaulting him in a post he shared recently on social media.

“Nicole Kendall Chinsamy has assaulted me several times. I know many people will mock me and call me names for speaking out, but I’m leaving it in God’s hands,” he wrote.

The rapper further alleged that the mother of his children wanted him killed after he allegedly caught her engaging in undisclosed activities.

He claimed he had scars from their years together and added that he was not asking for money, but for people to listen and understand what he was going through.

“Now she wants me killed cos I caught her. I need help. Not financially or on no dumb shit. I have scars from this girl for years,” he added.

Chinsamy previously accused Emtee of abuse in March 2023. She opened an assault case against the rapper following allegations stemming from a domestic dispute.

She later withdrew the charges, stating that she had chosen to forgive him and move forward for the sake of their children.

Over the years, Emtee and Chinsamy have levelled serious accusations against each other, highlighting the ongoing strain in their relationship.

These allegations have sparked mixed reactions online. Some social media users expressed concern for the rapper, while others called for both sides of the story to be heard before reaching any conclusions.

The rapper has publicly spoken about difficulties in his relationship with Chinsamy for several years.

Their relationship first made headlines in 2020 when Emtee accused his then-wife of physically abusing him. At the time, he claimed he had been assaulted over the years and alleged that members of Chinsamy’s family had also threatened him.

“Both mother and daughter took turns, choking me, tryna suffocate me. Now the weight lifting brother is threatening to kill me,” wrote Emtee at the time.

Chinsamy strongly denied the allegations, releasing a statement in which she described the claims as false and accused the rapper of trying to damage her reputation.

She wrote: “I would like to address the false accusations made against me by Mthembeni Ndevu. I will no longer protect someone who is trying to destroy my life by making false accusations about me. This is a blatant attempt to tarnish my name and my family’s name. The truth as to the core reason for the public fallout will be revealed.”

The pair’s public fallout has continued to play out over the years, with both sides making allegations against each other.

“EVERYTIME I’d get a seizure, she’d just walk past me, get her phone, take pictures of me while I’m unconscious and send all her boyfriends,” the rapper wrote on his X account.

More recently, the “We Up” rapper shared a lengthy statement on social media in which he alleged that he had endured years of abuse from his ex-wife. In the post, he claimed he had been beaten on multiple occasions and said he carried scars from the relationship.

People always resort to ‘he doesn’t bath’ to boost their egos. I have two bathrooms. How I’m not bathing? Maybe I’m just ugly said the mother of my kids.

“I know you’re tired of me posting statements. Sadly, this is serious beyond measure. I get beaten up by Nicole Kendall Chinsamy multiple times, and I know y’all will laugh at me and call me all the names in the but it’s cool, God got me.

“She threw away my bible cos she’s satanic. Now she wants me killed cos I caught her.”

Emtee, in his statement, further pleaded for help, but not financial assistance.

“I have scars from this girl for years,” he wrote. — IOL.
