SONGBIRD Ammara Brown has paid tribute to slain South African rapper and Skwatta Kamp member Flabba (real name Nkululeko Habedi), who passed away on Monday morning after he was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend.

Brown, who worked with Flabba during the early stages of her career in South Africa, took to social media networking site, Twitter to mourn Flabba’s passing on, saying he was one of the people who had helped nurture her career.

“Most of you don’t know about my career in SA but it involved a lot of work opportunities from SA musos, particularly Hip Hop artistes,” she tweeted.

She said Flabba’s death was a huge blow to her and the growing South African music scene.

“It’s very sad for me and the entire SA Hip Hop music industry. Flabba was skilled, talented and humble #RIPFlabba,” she tweeted.

Through Flabba’s assistance, Brown had the opportunity to perform at a number of concerts during the FIFA World Cup held in South Africa in 2010.

Her tribute was one of many that poured in after the rapper’s death with many citing his role as one of the core members of Skwatta Kamp as his biggest contribution to South African hip hop music scene.

His girlfriend, Sindisiwe Precious Manqele appeared at the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday morning where she was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing on March 16.

Habedi’s funeral service will be held on Sunday at Alexandra Stadium. He will be buried at Westpark Cemetery.
