Rapper, song writer and disc jockey Tsungai Sikefu, also known in the music circles as Phatfat, has released a single dubbed Flatline. The single features rapper Trae Yung and musician Julian (Dr Crash) Padzarondora. The song is close to a competition between the three rappers as they battle it out and wait for the listeners to crown who the “baddest” is.This is usually the trend in all hip hop circles.
The piece is about the hustles usually experienced in the Sunshine City of Harare and the controversy that comes with hustling.
Rapper Phatfat opens the lines with a praise of the Sunshine City, mentioning that the City is the “in thing” when it comes to partying and hustling.
Following after Phatfat with the flow is a DJ who in the song introduces himself to the game as Dr Crush, adding a bit of some Jamaican feel to the flow.
The piece is likely to be a hit in the hip hop circles although the hip hop industry is currently in tatters because of its failure to appeal to the general local populace.
It however has a following, but not like other genres like Zimdancehall and Sungura or even gospel.
Trae Yung, one of the hottest ladies in the rap industry, closes with a bang, as she in the song mentions that she is back with more hits as evidenced by her presence in this song.
She also hints at how she always surprises other rappers and stays ahead of them.
The song is greatly mastered by Zimbabwe hip hop standards.
In an interview, rapper, PhatFat, said he was officially introducing himself to Zim hip hop circles through this song, although he has been doing music since 2008.
“I have been doing music since 2008 but I feel like this single is the best so far and I am officially introducing myself into the hip hop circles through it. We are here to change the game and the usual cliché in hip hop is being left behind because we are leaving it behind.
“I think Zim hip hop is going to be recognised and appreciated more from the way artists are developing more creative and advanced marketing techniques, it’s only a matter of time”, Sikefu said.
Phatfat has worked with different hip hop stars like Jnr Brown, Mc Chita, Karizma, just to name but a few.
He is one of the promising hip hop artists in the industry.
