ZIMBABWE cricketer Sikandar Raza says he is responding well to medication after undergoing a successful operation on his arm earlier this month.
The all-rounder is recovering from the surgery he had two weeks ago after suffering a bone marrow infection. It was suspected to be cancerous but he has since been cleared of any serious illness after the surgery.
“It’s been 14 days after the surgery and rehab has started,” he tweeted on Friday morning.
“Wound healing nicely and body is responding well to the medications. Inshaallah, on the mend and be on the park soon. Thanks Physio (Travor) Wambe for all the help @ZimCricketv,” tweeted Raza.
The 35-year-old was left out of the recent series against Pakistan because of the operation. Raza was part of Zimbabwe’s squad that played against Afghanistan in United Arab Emirates two months ago.
But he is set for more weeks in the sidelines, as Zimbabwe Cricket discuss finer details against the Bangladesh Cricket Board for a possible tour next month.
Apart from national team duty, Raza is set for another dance in the Caribbean Premier League after he was retained by his club, Trinbago Knight Riders, for the 2021 edition.
Raza became the first Zimbabwean cricketer to feature in the tournament last year and he went on to cap the historic outing by winning the CPL title.
This year’s tournament is expected to get underway in St Kitts & Nevis on August 28, despite the threat of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Raza is among the 13 players that have been retained by the Knight Riders. The side completed a perfect season in 2020, winning all 12 of their matches on their way to a fourth Hero CPL title.
