Raza’s Nepal T20 team register first win

ZIMBABWEAN all-rounder, Sikandar Raza’s Biratnagar Super Kings registered their first win in the Nepal T20 League with a six wickets triumph over Pokhara Avengers yesterday.

With Raza missing out on the match, despite top scoring in the previous outing, Super Kings limited their opponents to 139-7 in 19 overs after a delayed start and managed to finish on 140-4 in 17. 5 overs to take home their first victory of the season after two consecutive defeats.

Kushal Malla top scored for the Avengers with 37 runs off 18 deliveries while the second leading run-scorer was Siddhant Lohani with 26 runs as Raza’s Super Kings rounded up their opponents’ innings.

Hussain Talat and Raj Nannan took two wickets each for Super Kings whilst Shahab Alam, Andre McCarthy and Nandan Yadav had one wicket each.

Chasing the target of 140, Talat continued his impressive form with the ball to the bat, top scoring with an unbeaten 50 runs off 30 balls. He was supported by Arjun Saud and the skipper, Andre McCarthy who scored 25 and 21 runs respectively as their team successfully chased down the target to register their first win of the season. Kushal Malla and Sharad Vesawkar both took the four wickets that fell, finishing with two each.

Biratnagar Super Kings

The win against the Avengers took the Super Kings one step further in the league standings to fourth place with two points from three matches. The reason for Raza’s absence was yet to be known at the time of going to publication.

Raza has so far scored 55 runs and picked up one wicket in the two matches has played for the Super Kings.

Next up for Raza’s team is a rematch against yesterday’s opponents, Pokhara Avengers later today. – @brandon_malvin
