ATHLETES Sphere Management, the Zimbabwean sports agency that is running the Real Betis Academy in Zimbabwe will be running a camp in Cape Town, South Africa in a move meant to complement their already established academy in Zimbabwe.
Real Betis is expanding its international reach with the inauguration of a new sports project in South Africa, Real Betis Academy Cape Town. Real Betis Camp Cape Town will be held from May 16 to 18 at the Fuare Stadium, and will provide an excellent opportunity for soccer players in the city and its surroundings to develop their skills under the guidance of Real Betis coaches.
The camp is open to players aged five to 18 who will benefit from the Real Betis football methodology considered to be among the best in the world. Participants will receive training from highly experienced coaches who will travel from Seville to Cape Town. Real Betis Camp Cape Town is just the first of several projects that Real Betis plans to undertake in the area.
Real Betis are pursuing a global education project through football with the support of their international business development department.
Its objective is not just to develop new playing talents but to provide access to good education and fight against marginalisation and social exclusion in different parts of the world.
The club plans to launch a series of new initiatives in Africa to extend the Betis brand on the African continent. Initially, it will provide hundreds of young people with an elite football education programme.
In 2020, Athletes Sphere Management, founded by former Zimbabwe rugby international Gerald Sibanda, partnered Real Betis to establish the Spanish club’s first ever academy on the African continent. Since its establishment, the Real Betis Academy Zimbabwe has over 150 players.
The academy has also recently added a women’s team led by former Zimbabwean international player Rudo Neshamba.
Real Betis Academy is the grassroots development programme of Real Betis Balompié, which seeks to share the methodology and training techniques of the Verdiblanco Club with young footballers around the world.
The academy which has more than 1 500 players, has 26 international projects with offices in the United States, Egypt, Algeria, El Salvador, Venezuela, Georgia and Ziombabwe. — @innocentskizoe
