HEAVY rains pounding the country have thrown a spanner in the works of ZTVas new reality TV show, Inside Out: The Ultimate Challenge, which was set to begin production this month.
Out of fear of putting the lives of the cast and crew in danger, the producers of the show have decided to shelve production until the worst of the rains have passed, with sometime at the end of March slated as a possible date when production can begin.
The 26-cast reality game show has aspects of Big Brother and Survivor as participants would be living in outdoor settings, placed in groups and also evicted based on votes from viewers.
The 90-day series will be aired everyday for the duration of the show with two winners set to walk away with a total of $40 000 in prizes.
The reality show will see participants touring the countryas premier tourist attractions where they would stay for a week at each place as they complete various challenges after which viewers would vote two participants out.
a?We decided to postpone because the health and safety of the participants is very important to us. Since we are an outdoor show, we had received warnings that there might be flooding during the month we had scheduled to start production and that is what has happened.a?
a?We thought the best thing to do was to postpone and this also safeguards our equipment as well,a? said show producer Sanpoulus Maplanka of Sanchi Productions.
He added that they had come up with a list of 320 possible participants from auditions in Bulawayo, Harare, Masvingo, Mutare and Gweru. Those that were successful will be further vetted to ascertain their suitability for the reality show.
a?We will check their backgrounds and other things to find out how suitable theyare for the show,a? Maplanka said. .
