4. The Spirit of “Ananias and Sapphira”
BABIES have a naivety that sends mothers running in order to fulfil their desires. A spirit of, “I want this now and because I want it now, I must have it;” it does not matter what it is or how much it costs. Sadly, this is what some of us are suffering from, seeking immediate satisfaction and turning a blind eye to the cost or repercussions at the end of the day. Not considering the repercussions is what often sends many into the clutches of debt and trouble.
5. Greed
Desiring more, never being satisfied and not being content will lead you into debt. Why is it your needs and wants are increasing by the day?
6. Seeking Glory in Man
There is an issue that I realised affects many people in the community; seeking glory, praises and salutations. You want to appear good, to be liked, respected, admired, and even envied. Seeking prestige binds many because once you get a high level of attention, you have to manage the pressure of maintaining that position. That then leads many into debt. You are forced to spend way beyond what you can afford.
7. Keeping up appearances
You can be consumed by this desire to an extent that you do not perceive the most important factor of every life, and that is God Almighty.
“Real security isn’t found in the things of this world but in the God who created the world and holds it in His hands.”
8.There is a Way Out
God did not create us to live in debt. Debt takes away your freedom, and keeps you from progressing in life. If you are one of those in debt, I know that it may seem like you are in a deep pit, with no way out but I want you to know that it is possible to come out and live a debt free life.
9.There is Power in a Decision
Because we have been given will power, we have the ability to change our lives through the decisions that we make. Decide today that you want to live a debt free life and once you do so, the journey begins.
