RED-HOT OSIMHEN SHIFTS ATTENTION TO WARRIORS

UYO. — Victor Osimhen has said the Super Eagles are firmly focused on their next game against the Warriors of Zimbabwe.

Osimhen scored both goals as Eric Chelle’s men breathed life into their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign with a 2-0 win over the Amavubi of Rwanda.

It was the three-time African champions’ first win in the qualifiers. The Super Eagles also claimed their first-ever away win over the East Africans after four attempts.

“I am very happy for the goals,” an elated Osimhen was quoted by ESPN.

“Now the focus is on Zimbabwe so we keep going.”

The Super Eagles will host the Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, tomorrow.

Osimhen has also warned Nigeria’s opponents that their remaining matches in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers are “war.”

The Super Eagles will face Zimbabwe, Rwanda, South Africa, Lesotho, and Benin Republic in their upcoming World Cup qualifying matches.

Chelle’s side cannot afford to drop any points in these matches if they hope to qualify for next year’s World Cup.

Nigeria currently sit behind South Africa, Benin, and Rwanda in the Group C standings.

Speaking at the Victor Attah International Airport after the Super Eagles landed in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Saturday following their victory over Rwanda, Osimhen said, as quoted by the NFF’s official website:

“We are ready.

“The remaining matches are wars, and we must fight them with all that we have to win.” — Daily Post.
