An explosion at a Buchwa Iron Mining Company (BIMCO) explosives storage facility has damaged properties in several suburbs of Redcliff, with shattered windows, collapsed ceilings and other structural damage reported following the overnight blast.
Preliminary findings suggest the blast may have been triggered by an attempted theft of explosives by suspected thieves, although investigations are still underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The local authority said it would continue monitoring developments and provide further updates as more information becomes available – ZBC.
