VARUN Carvalho, a reggae artiste from Goa has hinted at a possible collaboration with one half of local hip hop duo, Killemol.
Ngadlangadla and Carvalho coincidentally met last month and after a brief discussion, the pair liked each other’s vibe and a possible studio collaboration could be on the cards.
“I have a lot of plans here in Africa, and one of those is collaborating with Bulawayo artistes. This will be an extension of mine, having collaborated with Victor Kunonga in Harare. Ngadlangadla is someone I’ve admired, having heard a few of his songs. He has a cultural vibe about him and I like that,” he said.
Ngadlangadla was equally impressed with Carvalho’s unique sound.
“I can’t rule out a collaboration on a Reggae Goa-Hip hop tip because part of my vision is diversifying my portfolio and this collaboration fits the bill,” said Ngadlangadla.
The song, “Sharp Sharp” is likely to be recorded next month when Carvalho returns to Zimbabwe following a performance at a festival on Goa.
Carvalho’s first time in Bulawayo was in 2023, when he arrived with his band, RiseNation. Carvalho and his band performed at the Zimbabwe Academy of Music alongside Jazz maestro Victor Kunonga, Simz Masuku, Reilo Viekk, Erastus Nleya and other Bulawayo creatives that year.
The show dubbed “Play to Unite” saw Zimbabwe and India glued together to intensify the cultural exchange drive, merging the pair’s artistic sides. – Follow on X @MbuleloMpofu
