AFTER a successful road show last Saturday, the marketing committee of the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Under-20 Games local organising committee will return to the western suburbs of Bulawayo today to showcase Jumbo the Mascot.
Marketing committee head Kennedy Ndebele said the road show will visit Matshobana, Mpopoma, Njube, Mabuthweni, Pelandaba, Lobengula and Iminyela suburbs where lucky residents will win T-shirts with the mascot and dance groups providing entertainment.
“We’re returning to the western suburbs on Saturday after which I’m sure we would’ve covered all the suburbs,” said Ndebele whose committee is tasked with selling the Games to the masses.
Today’s road show will be the third in the western suburbs with Ndebele saying they now plan to visit the eastern suburbs.
Meanwhile, Jumbo the Mascot will next week on Friday be taken to the Matabeleland North capital, Lupane to coincide with the torch lighting ceremony.
The torch lightning ceremony was on Thursday held in Gweru, Midlands with Matabeleland South Province the next.
“The Lupane road show will coincide with the lighting ceremony next week Friday. After that, the mascot will be taken to the border town of Plumtree and later to Esigodini,” said Ndebele.
In another development, Team Zimbabwe will be unveiled to the public during a media briefing next week Tuesday.
