ZIMBABWE will on Wednesday unveil to the public its 224 athletes for the African Union Sports Council Region 5 Under-20 Games ahead of the start of the full time camp on Friday.According to Team Zimbabwe spokesperson, Tirivashe Nheweyembwa, the unveiling ceremony will be held in Harare with the team moving to the host city on Thursday to start camp the following day.

“As you are aware we have been having weekend camps as we prepare for the Games. This past weekend all the sporting disciplines held their camp here in Harare while athletics were in Bulawayo. Zimbabweans will get to know their athletes on Wednesday, all 224 of them before the team goes for camp at Bulawayo Polytechnic on Friday,” said Nheweyembwa.

He said the team would not break camp until the start of the Games on December 5.

“Some people might wonder why we are not camping at the designated Games Village, Hillside Teachers’ College. It’s because the organisers don’t want to give undue advantage to any team, all the 11 countries will go to Hillside Teachers’ College at the same time,” said Team Zimbabwe spokesperson.

Zimbabwe will seek to end South Africa’s dominance in the Games by fielding a full strength squad in all the eight disciplines.
