Patrick Chitumba, Midlands Bureau Chief
APOSTOLIC Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ) president Reverend Johannes Ndanga has said there is a need to rehabilitate two Gweru orphans who recently confessed to killing 600 people in a satanism pact.

The children, a girl (10) and her brother (13) made headlines after they allegedly foretold the death of their uncle, who died three days later.

Speaking in the wake of the relocation of the two children to Masvingo from Gweru where they have been staying and attending school, Rev Ndanga said the family members as well as the community should come together and assist in their rehabilitation so that they are not stigmatised by the community.

“Satanism is real and their coming out is a welcome development as it shows that they are willing to stop. However, there is a need for us to come together and rehabilitate them so that they are not shunned at school or in the community where they stay,” he said.

Rev Ndanga said relocating the siblings was not the best thing as the likelihood of them facing stigmatisation was also very high where they were going.

Family spokesperson Mr Justice Mandigo said the family had decided to relocate them to their rural home in Masvingo.

“I’m in Masvingo right now taking these children to our rural home. We decided as a family that it was best for them. We still have a serious case with us here,” he said.

Speaking during a lengthy cleansing ceremony conducted by Mai Chikomo, a popular faith healer in Mkoba 5, Gweru, the children said they were initiated into satanism when they were attending an unnamed school in Bulawayo where they lived with their late parents three years ago.

The two children confessed to killing 500 people in Bulawayo and a further 100 in Gweru.

Following the death of their uncle, Mr Benjamin Mandigo (47) last week, the panic-stricken family members took the two children for a cleansing ceremony.

The girl said after killing 500 people, she was promoted to the position of a queen in the satanism kingdom.

She said she had been promised a house in Gweru’s Athlone low density suburb if she killed eight more family members before the end of August.

Her brother said after the death of his uncle, he realised that they could wipe out their family members and gain nothing.
