September 29 to October 2 2011.
The mega event will be held at the National Sports Stadium in Harare.
The conference’s theme “Rekindling the Fire of Pentecost”, is set to revive the church in the great manifestation of the Holy Ghost.
Divine Appointments guest writer Pauline Mhuka spoke to Reverend Amon Madawo, the Secretary General of AFM in Zimbabwe and got more details about the conference.
“We want to protect our heritage. After its establishment in 1908 in South Africa by John G Lake, whose ministry was divine healing, he ensured that this ministry became a significant part of the Apostolic Faith Mission.
“He also believed in praying for the sick repeatedly until God answered his prayers,” said Rev Madawo.
“AFM came to Zimbabwe in 1915, and the church moved with a four square gospel: Jesus saves; heals; and, baptises with the Holy Spirit; and, the second coming of Christ.
“Therefore the gospel of AFM is salvation, healing, baptism and the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“As church leaders, we are saying, let’s rekindle the fire of the Pentecost by keeping it burning,” added Rev Madawo.
For the Lord says in John 14:16-18: “And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
Reverend Madawo also said, “As a church driven by the power of the Holy Ghost, we want to jealously guard our generation. Things are changing rapidly.
“The world is moving fast and technology is influencing the way people do things. Sometimes it is good, but in some cases it is negative.
“Our mandate is to keep the light burning as we need it continuously. We want to survive in the will of God.
“More than ever before, Zimbabwe at this time needs God’s intervention.
“It needs national healing and an economic turnaround.
“As the church, it is our duty to pray for God’s intervention. We have Zimbabwe at heart,” he said.
AFM in Zimbabwe held an annual general conference in August. It is surprising that they are holding an international conference a month after.
Rev Madawo explained that the Greater Harare conference was unique.
“Our leader, President Ashper Madzivire confirmed that God laid the conference in his spirit to organise a revival for His people. This is only the beginning.
“We shall have another one in Bulawayo.”
There is an impressive line-up of speakers and musicians, both local and international. One of the speakers Dr Shimmy Kotu is the founder of the 16-year old Shimmy Kotu Ministries based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr Kotu is a world renowned counsellor of Family Leadership Management and Organisational Development Empowerment. He is also a visionary, public speaker, great preacher, a management and business consultant.
The other guest speaker, Evangelist TA Rhalikholela also from South Africa has been in ministry for over 30 years. Evangelist Rhalikholela heads Gospel Fire Ministry.
Popular gospel artistes who will grace the occasion include Sebastian Magacha; Zimpraise and Innocent Gakaka. One of the organisers said, “There is going to be a powerful wave of revival and salvation of souls. We invite people from all denominations and the whole nation to come since AFM is part of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe.”
AFM in Zimbabwe is the oldest Pentecostal church in Southern Africa.

“And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2 Corinthians 12: 7-10, KJV)
