The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Captain (Rtd) Christopher Magomo has commissioned three fire-fighting equipment at the Bindura Municipality. The fire equipment was procured for all local authorities by Government from Belarus.
This comes after the Second Republic recognised the gap in emergency response and preparedness within local authorities across the country.

Bindura town did not have a fire tender for many years resulting in a significant loss of property due to fire outbreaks.
In most cases, Freda Rebecca Mine stepped in with their fire tenders when the need arose.
In addition, Bindura Municipality bought a 20-cubic tipper truck, a refuse compactor and two service vehicles using devolution funds.
Minister Magomo said firefighting equipment is a crucial addition to the local authority, enabling them to promptly respond to fire outbreaks.

“This is a significant step towards improving the standard of service delivery. The municipality also demonstrated its commitment to improve service delivery by acquiring more equipment and vehicles,” he said.
“Freda Rebecca Mine has generously provided their firefighting equipment and personnel as part of their corporate social responsibility.”
The Minister urged the municipality, residents and stakeholders to pool resources and construct a fire station.
Early this year Bindura Municipality commissioned Brookdale Primary School constructed using devolution funds.
Construction of Greenhill and Cleverhill Primary Schools are ongoing including Garikai Bridge.
Bindura resident Ms Caroline Zvakanaka said the town did not have a fire tender for a long time and they are excited that Government has intervened.

She urged the municipality to train it personnel on how to operate the machinery to effectively respond to fire incidents.
“We are happy as a community. We first witnessed the equipment during a gas explosion incident in Bindura and we urged the personnel to study this machinery and how to operate it,” she said.
Town clerk Ms Evelyn Madziire was represented by chamber secretary Mr Willard Masimba.
