adminBungoma. — At least 20 girls, who were expelled from a secondary school in Kenya a fortnight ago after they were found to be pregnant, have been given a chance to continue with their education following a directive by the ministry of education.
The girls, aged between 14 and 18, were expelled after testing positive for pregnancy in an examination conducted in December last year.
Reports indicated that four of the girls were in Form 4, eight in Form 3, six in Form 2, two in Form 1 and the other two had already dropped out of school.
While expelling them, the school principal Peter Kororia was reported to have told them they were an embarrassment to the school and vowed to not register the eight in Form 3 for their final Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams.
However, they got a second chance after the Ministry of Education ordered the principal to readmit them, saying they had a right to continue with their education. — News24.
