Retired Brigadier General Victor Rungani declared national hero

Retired Brigadier General Victor Rungani has been declared a national hero.

Zanu PF Secretary for Security Cde Lovemore Matuke, who is also the Minister of State Security, announced the hero’s status at the Rungani family home in Goromonzi this morning.

“His Excellency President Mnangagwa, who is the First Secretary of the party, has conferred national hero status to Brig Gen Rungani,” he said.

“Cde Rungani will be interred at the National Heroes Acre at a date to be advised,” said Cde Matuke.

He said President Mnangagwa has considered the role played by Cde Rungani during and after the liberation struggle.

“He (President Mnangagwa) has seen it fit to declare him a National Hero,” said Cde Matuke.

Mourners are gathered at 9 Bally Vaughan Farm, Goromonzi.

He was born on June 29 1949, in Bikita, Masvingo
