Some familiar faces were back on The Voice on Monday night as CeeLo Green, Gwen Stefani and Usher were called in to mentor the show’s top eight contestants.
They were invited back by current judges Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera as the remaining hopefuls battled it out for a place in the final six.
”I have been watching from home and all these kids have so much talent,” said Gwen as she admitted she was excited to be back.
To kick off the show the three remaining guys, Joshua, Corey and Sawyer teamed up to perform Avicii’s “Hey Brother” and the girls took on his tune “Wake Me Up”.
CeeLo was first up, advising Texas rocker Hannah Kirby over her rendition of Tina Turner’s “We Don’t Need Another Hero”.
Hannah wanted to know where the original judge’s cat was and CeeLo admitted he would have stolen her from Blake if he was on the show.
The returning mentor urged her to be theatrical and brought in a children’s choir to back her up.
”You are my favourite and I’m so excited for you,” CeeLo admitted.
”I can so tell who the co-coach on that one was. It has CeeLo’s stamp all over it.
”You had power house vocals and hit all the high notes. Next time you could explore your lower end, if you can get that to be as powerful as your high notes then you are golden,” said Christina.
”We have been through a lot and here we still are. There are so many bombastic, giant voices singing huge, crazy vocals, an arena in which I myself might not be particularly comfortable in,” said Adam.
”I just love the fact that we know and you know that you went out and did something distinctively different and you did it with class and elegance that I really admire. A stunning job.” — TMZ
