Reverend Anselm Pardon Gift Mvenge, a beloved Pastor and renowned, Christian Healing Ministry Church founder died on August 4 2025, at the age of 68.
With a ministry that spanned nearly four decades, Pastor Anselm was a devoted servant of God, known across Zimbabwe and beyond for his unwavering commitment to preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ, praying for the sick and ministering to the emotional and spiritual needs of many.
A Life of Faith and Service
He was born Pardon Gift in 1957 in Chivhu to Matthew and Esther Mvenge.
At aged 11 he was baptised in Chinhoyi at St Paul’s Anglican Church by Rev Chirimuuta, who was inspired by the Holy Spirit to name him Anselm.
He later searched for the meaning of this name when he went to England in the late 90s and found out that Anselm was an Archbishop and a great teacher of the word of God at Canterbury Cathedral.
Pastor Anselm did his high school education at Luveve Secondary School.
He joined Chitungwiza Town Council in 1981 as a clerk whilst securing some accounting qualifications. In 1987 he joined Cold Comfort Farm Trust as an accountant, before venturing into full-time ministry with the Anglican Church.
Described in The Sunday Mail of 2015 as “God’s general hand”, Pastor Anselm received the call to pastoral work in 1984, but he eventually answered it in 1990 and formally enrolled at the United Theological College in 1993.
In 1995, he was ordained as an Anglican deacon in Manicaland by Bishop Elijah Masuko, an event marked by a powerful spiritual visitation described as “tongues of fire”.
He went on to serve faithfully in the Anglican Church, holding senior positions in both the diocese of Manicaland and Central Zimbabwe, including serving as Dean of St Cuthbert’s Cathedral in the Midlands.
From 1999, he enrolled at the University of Birmingham, where he studied towards a Masters’ Degree in Pastoral Studies. He returned to Zimbabwe soon after completing his studies as God had instructed him that his mission was to minister to souls back home.
Following God’s leading, he left the Anglican Church for full-time ministry, founding the Christian Healing Ministry for All Nations in Gweru in 2007 — a ministry that became a sanctuary for those seeking physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
From the pulpit to open-air crusades, Pastor Anselm ministered across Zimbabwe and beyond, leading healing conferences, revival meetings, and prayer gatherings that drew thousands. His ministry was marked by prophetic insight, miraculous testimonies and a deep passion for intercession.
A Legacy of Impact
Pastor Anselm’s ministry led thousands to salvation and healing. Many testify to divine intervention, deliverance, and restoration through his preaching and prayers. He mentored pastors, evangelists and leaders who now serve in churches across Zimbabwe and beyond.
“He didn’t just preach healing — he lived it. His love for people, humility and deep prayer life changed lives forever,” said one pastor.
He remained a humble, generous, and prayerful leader whose teachings on faith, healing, and perseverance continue to inspire believers.
A celebration of Pastor Anselm’s life and ministry was held on August 6 at Christian Healing Ministry’s new sanctuary in Waterfalls, Harare — a house of worship he was building until his final days. The service was attended by believers, ministers, and community leaders from across the country.
He was laid to rest in Gweru on Thursday, August 7, the city that served as the heart of his ministry for many years.
Pastor Anselm is survived by his wife Pastor Grace, three children, seven grandchildren, and a vast spiritual family.
Though many Zimbabweans mourn the loss of a giant in the faith, his legacy of healing, hope, and steadfast devotion to Christ will live on for generations.
