BLACK Rhinos gained a measure of revenge in this Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match when they beat Shabanie Mine by a similar margin the miners beat them in the reverse fixture. In yesterday’s tie at Rimuka, Brain Muzondiwa scored in the 41st minute and Lot Chiwunga three minutes later.
Chances created and not utilised was the tale of the visitors downfall against the army side that has now gone for four consecutive home games without conceding a goal.
And what a sweet victory it turned out to be for Rhinos gaffer Arthur Tutani who could not contain his joy after the final whistle.
“So far so good and the boys made me proud today. This is the game I wanted to win at all costs. They showed character in this game and were not intimidated by Shabanie’s profile and the fact that they eliminated Dynamos in the BancABC Cup semi-final last week,’’ said Tutani.
Shabanie coach Luke Masomere conceded defeat and put the blame on his players for not utilising the chances they created resulting in them being punished by the army side who scored two quick goals that suffocated the visitors.
Muzondiwa who was the man of the match drew first blood after picking a loose ball and pulled the trigger from just outside the box just as goalkeeper Victor Twaliki was trying to narrow the gap.
Three minutes later the Rhinos fans were on their feet to celebrate another spectacular Lot Chiwunga grounder, a carbon copy of the first goal.
Chiwunga, full of running all afternoon, received a Brighton Mugoni pass and made a solo run before smashing in a brilliant grounder. Tafadzwa Mombeshora the towering Shabanie midfielder thought he had scored with a header but his well calculated connection went over the bar with the goalkeeper a beaten man in the 35th minute.
