CHAMPIONSHIP contenders Black Rhinos return to Commando this weekend optimistic when they host Cargo Carriers in a Northern Region Division One Soccer League tie. Rhinos have declared they will not throw in the towel in the championship race and will fight until the last day of the league programme. They are currently third with 41 points and 14 points behind pacesetters Ngezi Platinum with 10 games to go.
The army side lock horns with in-form Cargo Carriers on Sunday at Commando hoping to complete a league double over their opponents having won the reverse fixture 2-1.
Coach Droment Chirova said they were expecting victory. “They are playing very well, but for us, we are not saying we are just going to watch them come into our backyard with that form, so we have to perform better than the way they did in the first game.
“We beat them, but they were playing very well, in fact they were the first to score.
“This is a different game also, they now know how we play so they will bring in new tactics, so we will totally change our approach and attitude.
“We mustn’t come out with the approach that we are playing at home, we know it’s an advantage, but we mustn’t undermine them because we may be upset.
“Our approach must just be positive so that we hold them in all departments, we have to be cautious,” said Chirova.
Cargo Carriers coach, Tendai Chapfika is upbeat they will upset Rhinos on Sunday having gone for 14 games undefeated.
“We are preparing for it just like any other game, but the difference now is we have gone for 14 games without losing.
“The last team to beat us was Black Rhinos (in the first round) so we have a score to settle, regardless of the fact that we will be away from home we are promising fireworks.
“We lost at home so we can’t let them collect six points from us. Our preparations have moved a gear up because we know exactly what awaits us,” said Chapfika.
