ARENEL Movers’ Ricaldo Sibanda has probably been his team’s vital cog so far as the clubs’ top goalscorer, after netting five goals in 10 matches.

Nicknamed “Mjakajaka” the 23-year-old, Makokoba raised star has played a pivotal role leading his team to the top of the Zifa Southern Region Division One League.

He has featured in nine games this season and missed only one against Binga Pirates due to an injury. He scored against five teams, Talen Vision, Zimbabwe Saints, Mainline and Ratanang FC.

Having had less game time, only playing seven games last season, the central attacking midfielder-cum winger will look to make up for lost time as he seeks to ignite his form and remain consistent throughout the whole year.

“I have to make up for the games I missed especially last season and I believe that this is my year, and I am also motivated by the start I have had, and also how the team has been performing,” Sibanda said.

His team has had a fine start to the season as they have not yet lost a single match and are two points ahead of second positioned ZPC Hwange.

He has played for army side, Indlovu Iyanyathela before and boyhood club Real Stars of Makokoba which has produced talented players such as Triangle FC goalkeeper Matripples Muleya and Dynamos FC defender Brendon Mpofu.

When asked what his goals for the future are, his response was: “At the moment I am focusing on where I am right now and to improve myself, but the plan is to be able to play football at a place where I will be able to take care of my family, and to also play for the national team.”

Arenel will hope to maintain their fine form when they meet Emakhandeni Pirates this weekend and to improve from last year’s fourth place finish where the race to the title slipped away from them towards the end of the season.

“We hope that we won’t repeat last year’s situation whereby we lost touch of the teams above us just when the season was about to end,” said Sibanda.
