Ricochet models graduate in style

Dlamini was a finalist in the 2010 M-Net Face of Africa and has gone on to make great strides in South Africa. The other judgers were Shawn Rensburg and Danai Pawadiwa.

The eight models, who graduated after completing a three-month Advanced Modelling and Grooming course, comprised of three male and five female models.

The graduation ceremony’s theme was “Rio Carnival”.

Models went on stage in fabulous outfits that they made according to the theme of the night.

A pink and yellow feathered detail dress with a matching train, worn by a model called Shasha was the most outstanding outfit of the night.

The warm colours of the dress gave a funky edge to the show bringing out the theme of the night.

The male models gave a good account of themselves as they made the women scream every time they came on stage. The crowd was treated to an assortment of entertainment from dance groups such as Break Equation.

The group’s high flying antics kept the crowd on the edge of their seats.

At the end of the show Bulawayo hip hop artiste Proud of You, (P.O.Y) played his new single A Champion’s Pain.

Executive director for the modelling agency, Ricky Nathanson, said the graduation was a success and was proud of the models.

He however, said he was disappointed by the poor attendance.

“The models were stunning and I am proud of them. I am however disappointed with the attendance because I expected more people to come,” said Nathanson.

He said the graduates designed their outfits except for the intimate wear which he designed.

“Every show I organise I want to push the boundaries so that the models think outside the box. I only provide the inspiration and then the models design their outfits,” said Nathanson.

He said the business wear category was a requirement in modelling hence its inclusion.

“In fashion it is a requirement that models be able to take to the ramp in business wear. That was why we included it in the categories, although it did not go along with the theme,” said Nathanson.

He said before the end of the year, Bulawayo will have its own fashion week.

“I am leaving the United States and when I am back in August I will start planning for a fashion week in Bulawayo,” said Nathanson.
