SOUTH African singer Ringo Madlingozi is expected in Harare this Thursday ahead of his Friday gig scheduled for the Andy Millar Hall, Exhibition Park. Dubbed “Thank You Zimbabwe”, the gig also features other heavy hitters in the likes of Winky D, Jah Prayzah and superstar Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi.
“Revellers should not worry about the rains because we are going to pitch tents to ensure that fans are as comfortable as possible.
“There is also going to be a state-of the art PA system, braai, chilled drinks and secure parking,” Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, the show promoter said.
Those who are going to attend the show will be in for a real treat with non-stop music.
Although the performance programme is yet to be released, whoever opens the gig will have a mammoth task of warming the stage for the other artistes.
It could be Winky D, Jah Prayzah or Tuku but it will not be a stroll in the park as expectations will be high among fans.
While most musicians would start their act slow then climax halfway or at the end, that is not the case with dancehall chanter Winky D.
Born Wallace Chirimuko, the “Mafirakureva” hitmaker has never disappointed his fans. He knows how to rock his crowds and is full of surprises.
Jah Prayzah has taken his brand to another level and he is one youngster to watch out for in the near future.
The gig promises to be yet another night of collaborations with the most anticipated duet coming from Tuku and Ringo.
The track “Into Yam” originally by Ringo was redone featuring Mtukudzi who gave it another lease of life. The song became a hit in Southern Africa and up to now fans still enjoy it.
Ringo, whose songs are mostly about love, is not a stranger to Zimbabwean audiences.
He has been to Harare on a number of occasions and in all the cases his gigs were sold out.
