YOUNG Flying Stars Sports Academy (YFSSA) Under‑20 side produced a commanding second‑half performance to secure a 4‑1 victory over Riverplate at Hartsfield Rugby Ground, a triumph inspired by the unveiling of their new kit sponsor, Budget Cash & Carry, the Bulawayo wholesaler.
YFSSA began brightly, with Neo Makwelo opening the scoring to give the hosts an early advantage. Riverplate responded through Proud Sibanda, who struck the equaliser midway through the first half. That goal proved to be their only joy of the afternoon, as the sides went into the break level at 1-1.
The new-look YFSSA kit seemed to inspire fresh energy after the restart. Addington Matongo’s unfortunate own goal restored YFSSA’s lead before Era Mangore and Sandile Sibanda added further strikes to put the contest beyond Riverplate.
The attacking flair and relentless pressing from YFSSA highlighted the confidence coursing through the team, with the sponsor’s backing clearly boosting morale.
