UPCOMING local musician, Abel Mataranyika, who recently joined the RnB family, will early next year release his debut nine-track album titled Cupid and Broken Hearts. He revealed to The Weekender recently that his main theme on the album was love and betrayal.

“Most of my songs are based on personal experience in my relationships. I preach through music, issues that affect our day-to-day life such as love and betrayal. I also praise him through music. The title of the album reflects positive effects of love as well as detrimental effects of hatred and jealous. It entails the thin dividing line between the pleasures of love and sadness,” said the 20-year-old artiste.

Tracks carried on the album are Testimony, African Girl, Pains of the game, Only One, If I let you go, Thank you mama, Ndiwe wega, Bye bye love and Caught up in the moment.

Some of the tracks were recorded in Harare at Harare-based studio Kenako Studio while Only One and African girl were done by veteran producer C Bleech of Grace and Truth studios.

“I discovered that I was talented in music at a tender age of nine. I am happy that since then, I am nurturing my talent. Releasing my debut album is a dream come true and I hope to conquer the world,” he said.

His two singles, My only one and Testimony are receiving rave reviews on local radio stations.

Mataranyika said that his mother inspired him to take music seriously.

“My mother has contributed significantly to my music career and I owe her a lot. I however wish to hold more live shows and showcase my talent. Promoters have not been forthcoming. I am craving for a platform to present my songs with other local artistes,” he added.
