Road crash claims four

Four people were killed, while another was seriously injured on Tuesday when a Toyota Fun Cargo overturned near Steven Business Centre along Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway.

Three people died on the spot, while the fourth one was pronounced dead on admission to Masvingo General Hospital where the injured is also hospitalised.

The Fun Cargo was heading towards Masvingo with four passengers when tragedy struck on the 38km peg.

National police chief spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said the deceased will be named onctheir next of kin had been advised.

It is alleged that the Fun Cargo driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it veering off the road, overturning and landing on its left side. Snr Asst Comm Charamba said police were concerned over a spike in road traffic accidents due to human error.

Barely a week ago, seven people perished while two others were seriously injured when the vehicle they were travelling in was hit by a trailer that had unhitched from a bus at the 126km peg along the Masvingo-Beitbridge Highway.
