THREE men allegedly chased, attacked, and fired a gunshot at a motorist during a violent road rage incident in Rangemore on Sunday night.
At around 9pm, a 41-year-old man was driving his white Honda Civic along Josephine Road when he passed a silver Toyota Noah coming from the opposite direction. After an exchange of flashed headlights and insults, the Toyota made a U-turn and gave chase.
The suspects allegedly sprayed pepper spray into the driver’s face, forcing him to seek refuge at a friend’s house. They followed, bumping him on the shoulder with their car before he escaped into nearby bushes.
The trio smashed all the windows and lights of his car with bricks, stabbed its tyres, and stole the battery. They allegedly grabbed his friend, demanding to know his whereabouts, before one of them fired a shot into the air, threatening the complainant to come out.
The suspects drove off but warned they would return. Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Nomalanga Msebele urged the public to avoid taking the law into their own hands and appealed for information leading to the attackers’ arrest.
