Robber shoots man dead

A Harare man was early yesterday morning shot dead by a suspected robber who had raided an office in Eastlea, Harare. Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident, which occurred around 3am at Number 5 Wembly Crescent.The victim has been identified as Innocent Julius (22).

Chief Supt Nyathi said the man was murdered after three robbers broke into a house, which is used as offices by K and K Real Estate and High Tide Security Company.

After breaking into the premises, he said the victim’s father Mr Collins Julius, a security guard at the premises then rushed to the cottage to alert his son Innocent and two other men.

“They confronted the three suspects and two of them fled while the third remained hiding in the premises,” Chief Supt Nyathi said.
He said the suspect then shot Innocent three times and he died on the spot before escaping from the scene with his two accomplices in a white Nissan Sunny.

“Police are appealing for information which can help us to arrest these dangerous criminals.
“We want to send a clear message that the long arm of the law will catch up with them,” Chief Supt Nyathi said.
He appealed to anyone with information to approach the nearest police station or contact police national complaints desk on 703631.
