THREE robbers recently released from prison in South Africa were arrested in Beitbridge for a series of armed robberies.
The trio—Majajama Ndlovu (24), Hulisani Ndou (21), and Nkosi Nkomo (27)— were sentenced to a combined 33 years in jail.
The suspects were part of a 10-member gang that had been terrorising residents in the area. Detective Inspector Rachel Muteweri from the Criminal Investigations Department confirmed the arrests.
On September 18, 2024, the suspects, armed with pistols, forced their way into a residence around 12:15am.
They violently smashed windows and doors, assaulted the homeowner, and stole various valuables.
On October 15, 2024, police received information linking them to the crime, revealing their recent release from prison in South Africa.
The investigation led to the recovery of a Lenovo laptop valued at US$200.
The suspects appeared before Magistrate Mrs Charity Maphosa at the Beitbridge Regional Court, where they each received a 12-year sentence. One year was suspended on the condition of restitution to the victim, and another year was suspended for good behaviour.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is now seeking information on two additional suspects known as Dyke and Achuzi.
