Robbers torment Ruwa residents

SOLOMIO residents in Ruwa are living in fear due to frequent night attacks by robbers.

Despite forming a neighbourhood watch committee, they are being overwhelmed by the robbers who target women and girls, in particular.

One incident involved an attempted rape case during a robbery, with a family member being injured while trying to prevent the assault.

The residents are appealing for police intervention.

Some have even requested that a police base be set up in their area to help combat the issue.

Arrests have reportedly not been made despite multiple reports being filed to the police.

Residents said the break-ins and attacks occur almost every night.

“We are now living in fear of the robbers and we are begging for police visibility in our neighbourhood.

“When the neighbourhood watch committee patrols one area, the robbers pounce on the other side,” said Trust Musonza, a member of the neighbourhood watch committee.
